NINA NAUSTDAL COUTURE LONDON FASHION WEEK | AW18

Monday, September 25, 2017

On Tuesday 19th September I interned for Nina Naustdal at London Fashion Week which I was super excited about as it was my first time getting an opportunity like that. I had never actually heard of Nina before so did a bit of research before attending. Her couture designs are absolutely beautiful she also delves into childrenswear, shoes, bridal, jewellery and even has a dog collection. But after all it's not surprising as she does have seven Chihuahuas herself.

Before I tell you my thoughts on the collection I thought I would tell you a bit about my role as an intern for the show as that is why I was there primarily so why there aren't that great quality pictures. When applying I was put in the social media team so our job was to take pictures of backstage, the show and products from the goody bag which we then sent over. I also assisted with the guest list and setting down the show.

Here are my thoughts on the collection...

Nina presented three collections at the Playboy club which was such a glamorous venue. Debuting on the catwalk were Couture AW17/18, Black collection and Ready to Wear SS18. Guests to the show included Jackie St Clair, Zara Holland, Lizzie Kundy, Touker Suleyman.

In all of her designs she is focused on creating glamorous, elegant and sophisticated handmade dresses which often include floral details or precious stones.
Her couture season this year took inspiration from the Victorian period with feminine fitted dresses but also incorporating ballooned sleeves. Other elements of the designs seen were frills, low plunging necklines and accentuating midriffs.

The Ready to Wear collection was by far my favourite, floral dresses took the catwalk by storm delicate organza fabric was used creating intricate designs showcasing inspiration from the East. The designs were modern with some even being short dresses and a clear juxtaposition was shown of the draping fabrics against tight sleeves, bows and waistlines.

Closing the show Nina walked out with the finale dress on a beautiful model who had very natural glowing make-up. The dress took everyones breath away it was full of floral details across the skin coloured fabric which then flowed into a long bridal style train.
